26 October, 2007. Annual ride from Christchurch, New Zealand to Akaroa. Eligible bikes must have old-style girder forks, which limits it to mostly pre-WWII machines.
31 August - 3 September Lime Rock Park, Connecticut.
My second time to this event, this time with new bride in tow. We camped on the infield in a friend's '67 VW bus and had a great time.
3rd and 4th February 2007
Ruapana Raceway, Canterbury, New Zealand.
It's funny, seems the more I go to this event (this is my fifth), the more pictures I take in the carpark... You get a lot of people bringing the same cars back year after year to compete, so the paddock can tend to look familiar to the photographer. There are always good reasons to come back each year, of course.
Museum of Transport and Technology, Auckland, New Zealand. Good collection of police vehicles and fire appliances. Sadly all the fire appliances are kept outdoors.
Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia
17 September, 2006. Aussie legend Peter Brock was to be guest of honour but was sadly killed a couple of weeks before this event. A parade of his former cars were present.
Lyme, New Hampshire, USA. This is apparantly the largest private collection of Bugattis in the world. Virtually every type is represented short of the type 41 Royale, the value of which would exceed the total of this collection!
North of San Francisco, California. This is one of the premier auto restoration businesses in the world. Not a place that time-wasting tire-kickers such as myself are generally welcome - all business is word-of-mouth and their address is not published. An acquaintance knew someone that used to work there and between dead reckoning navigation and selective name-dropping we were able to find them and be granted permission to wander through and snap some photos.
